Bladder Control Center of Portland

Fore River Urology offers comprehensive care for both men and women with urinary incontinence, or leakage of urine, and voiding dysfunction. Voiding dysfunction includes urinary urgency, urinary frequency, and the inability to empty the bladder. Fore River Urology has a state-of-the-art urodynamics suite used to test bladder function and determine a specific diagnosis. We offer conservative management for a variety of conditions including behavioral interventions, pelvic floor muscle exercises, biofeedback, and other forms of patient education and guidance. We also offer advanced treatment options including Interstim, the Monarc Sling, and the GreenLight laser. Our goal is to provide each patient with the best possible experience and outcome in an environment that offers privacy and comfort.

Specifically for problems that are unique to women, Fore River Urology also offers effective long-term solutions for pelvic organ prolapse or vaginal hernias called "cystocele", "rectocele", "enterocele" or "procidentia."

Female Incontinence

Urge Incontinence, urinary urgency, urinary frequency

Urinary urge incontinence involves a strong, sudden need to urinate, followed by a bladder contraction, which results in leakage.  Frequent urination means needing to urinate more often than usual.  Urinary urgency is a sudden, compelling urge to urinate sometimes resulting in urge incontinence.  These conditions affect both women and men.  There are several different treatment modalities to address urinary urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence.

  • Interstim

Stress Incontinence

Stress incontinence is an involuntary loss of urine that occurs during physical activity, such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercise.  This type of incontinence has several different treatment options and interventions for both women and men.  Men, too, can develop stress incontinence after prostate surgery (see Male Incontinence).

  • Monarc Sling

Male Incontinence

Men having problems urinating and/or weak stream

There are many different treatments for conditions affecting urinary flow rates.  Drs Adey and Hodroff utilize the latest technology in medical and surgical treatments.  The latest treatment for blockage at the level of the prostate uses laser energy to remove the prostate tissue.  The results are outstanding and side effects are minimal.
